Michael Trotter Is Interim President & CEO

Michael Trotter, Interim President & CEOMichael Trotter has been named Interim President and CEO of the Union County Partnership for Progress, effective December 16, 2011, replacing Maurice Ewing, who will be retiring effective February 15, 2012.

"For the past three years, Michael Trotter has done an outstanding job for the Union County Partnership for Progress and is uniquely qualified for this new opportunity," said Board Chair Ken Harris. "Michael has worked hard to build strong relationships within the public and private sectors of Union County which will benefit the Union County Partnership for Progress in the months ahead."

Trotter is a former manager with Duke Energy Corporation, having served 22 years in various managerial and professional positions, including large industrial account relationship management. Michael also served in a managerial role within Duke Energy's economic development efforts in North Carolina in the Charlotte Region, the Triad and the Research Triangle. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University.

Gretchen Carson Is Director Of Existing Industry

Gretchen Carson, Director of Existing IndustryAs the Director of Existing Industry, Ms. Carson focuses on building relationships with existing industries in Union County, helping to resolve problems these businesses experience, and assisting with expansions and relocations within the county. Additionally, Gretchen is involved in workforce development to assist industries with skills training for their staff.

Gretchen served as office manager at UCPP before being promoted to Director of Existing Industry. Prior to joining UCPP in 2010, she was the Executive Director for the French American Chamber of Commerce - NC.

Gretchen holds a B.A. in French and Art History from Indiana University (Bloomington) as well as a B.S.B.A. in International Business from UNC Charlotte. She is currently in the process of earning certification from the Economic Development Institute from the University of Oklahoma.
