Union
County
Union
County and its government are committed to the quality of life and
long-term economic well-being of all the Countys citizens.
This commitment includes encouraging the location of new businesses
and the expansion of existing businesses within the county. It has
long been the practice of Union County to offer property tax based
economic development incentives for qualifying businesses. These
grants have been provided for companies that commit to create new
tax value and new full-time jobs in the county.
Each
incentives request is managed through the approval process by the
Union County Partnership for Progress. Final approval, which is
on a case by case basis, rests with the Union County Board of Commissioners.
Each grant commitment is clarified by a contract which explains
in detail the terms and conditions of the incentive and is administered
by the Tax and Finance Departments of the County government.

Monroe
The
Monroe City Council and the Monroe Economic Development Commission
are also committed to the long-range economic well-being of the
people of Monroe. The Citys interest is to maintain an on-going
progressive plan to enhance and secure job opportunities, yet sustain
its existing economic health and prosperity. The City Council believes
strongly in maintaining a forefront position that is ready to procure
new business by soliciting and/or providing aid utilizing grant
resources. As a result, the City Council created the first incentive
grant program in Union County.
The economic development grant program addresses this mission through
allocation of City resources, as The Monroe City Council deems necessary,
to respond to proposals from new or existing manufacturing, processing,
warehousing, distribution, headquarters, alternative energy or data
processing enterprises. These new or expanding industries
will add new job opportunities and promote a better quality of life
for local citizens in addition to sustaining the integrity of the
City, broadening the tax base, and generating growth and development.
For further information on these incentives, please contact the
Union County Partnership for Progress at 704-283-3592.
